The community meetings give the public an opportunity to ask questions and provide valuable information for the Orange County staff. If you want to express your opinion regarding the Lake Pickett Text Amendment to the Orange County Comprehensive Plan, these meeting will be your best opportunity.
Here are some questions you should ask:
- If this text amendment is passed, what will prevent the developer from changing their concept plan as long as they fall within the guidelines of the Comprehensive Plan? In other words, if the Comprehensive Plan wording is too loose and has loopholes, the developer can change the original plans to add density or place high density housing along areas intended to be rural as long as the Comprehensive Plan does not expressly prohibit it.
- Can you explain where the 100 foot buffer will be and how the rural character will be preserved with such a small buffer?
